The highly awaited dates for the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2025 have been revealed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The grand showdown between the top two teams in the WTC standings is scheduled to take place at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, commencing on June 11th.
The ICC made the announcement on September 3rd, confirming that the pinnacle clash will unfold at the revered “home of cricket.” The match is slated to occur from June 11th to 15th, 2025, with June 16th kept in reserve as a contingency day. It’s worth noting that the inaugural WTC final in 2021 was initially intended to be held at Lord’s but was relocated to Southampton’s Ageas Bowl due to COVID-19 restrictions.
New Zealand emerged victorious in the first WTC edition, securing an eight-wicket win over India. Subsequently, the second WTC final was staged at The Oval in London, where Australia triumphed over India by 209 runs.
ICC CEO Geoff Allardice expressed his enthusiasm for the impending final, highlighting its significance on the cricketing calendar.
“The ICC World Test Championship Final has swiftly established itself as a highly anticipated event, and we are delighted to announce the dates for the 2025 edition,” Allardice stated.
He further urged fans to register their interest in tickets early, anticipating high demand for the momentous occasion.
India and Australia are currently leading the WTC table and are favored to face off in the final once again. India holds the top spot with six wins out of nine matches, boasting a points percentage of 68.52%, while Australia occupies the second position with eight wins from 12 matches and a points percentage of 62.50%.
